Over 70% of fuel consumed by today’s diesel generators is lost either as exhaust heat or simply from operating the generator below its most efficient output range.  HyGen combines waste heat recapture, clean energy storage and smart generator node technology to ensure conventional generators operate at peak efficiency. 

Planetary Power’s proprietary heat extraction technology captures waste heat to increase the generator’s rated output.  Our power conditioning, storage and control system operates the generator at its optimal power setting and provides high quality electricity matched to the load while storing unused electricity for later use.  Based on user requirements, HyGen^TM powers-down the diesel motor for significant periods of time, providing power to the load from storage.  During this period, the HyGen system is completely silent and generates no emissions, improving the work environment while eliminating the vulnerability and nussaince associated with high sound emissions. 

Because of the integrated storage capacity and rapid discharge capability, HyGen can meet surge loads, such as electrical equipment start up, many times higher than the rated capacity of the generator eliminating procurement and support of redundant generation capacity and further increasing operational savings.
